Geology Explored During Walk at Claude Moore Park
A small but engaged group participated in a nature walk at Claude Moore Park on September 19, which was led by John Keith and Lynn Wingate. The group ranged in age from five to 85 and were treated to a history of the park, a lesson on how to read topographic and geologic maps, and an explanation of the relationship between the geology and plant life in the park. It was a good day for learning new things, but a slow day for birding with only 20 species seen (see list below). However, the group was treated to the sight of a Least Flycatcher.
