Writing in Nature: Productivity
Eight participants, including two new writers, joined the March 7 workshop led by Nancy Morgan. This workshop was based on the theme of productivity. Each participant was asked to write about what the term meant to them, and what thoughts and feelings it evoked after reading a poem by Susan Myers on the topic. In the post-writing discussion, there was a diversity of opinions that in some ways reflected the stage of life each person was in. Biologist Barbara Thompson gave a talk about nature’s productivity in winter that is often hidden from view. After a brief reading from Margaret Renkl’s book The Comfort of Crows, the group went looking in the park for signs of late winter productivity. We closed with a report on our findings and concluded that was enough productivity for one day! The next workshop will be April 4, 2024.
