Writing in Nature: Gloves Off or Gloves On
Three participants attended the April 7 Writing in Nature workshop. The theme was Gloves Off, which we immediately abandoned because our gloves were on. Instead we opened with a Wendell Berry poem about rain, then talked about our relationship to rain. Everyone agreed to an outdoor activity so we searched for evidence of the emerging spring, observations that would rapidly change from day to day. We also wrote about daydreaming, the kind that happens when you’re stuck in a classroom and longingly look out the window at the greening season.
These workshops are lead by Nancy Morgan, Director Emeritus, Georgetown Lombardi Arts and Humanities Program. They provide an opportunity to enjoy the combined health benefits of time spent in nature and writing thoughts and feelings. Writing in Nature workshops take place monthly on the first Thursday, and each session is a stand-alone event. The next session is on May 5, 2022.
