Volunteer Spotlight: Natalie Manzanares
Natalie has been volunteering with Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy since 2022. Her most recent volunteer activity was coordinating our award-winning float at the Leesburg 4th of July parade. Through her efforts she found a sponsor, Last Call Exteriors, to help cover the cost of some of the supplies and a banner, made arrangements for a truck and trailer to build the float on, and spearheaded working with a group of creative volunteers to highlight our Dulles Greenway Wetlands Eagle Cam program. Over the last year Natalie has also been volunteering her professional skills in helping us develop a Strategic Marketing Plan through her company Nat Manz, LLC.
In her spare time, Natalie loves hiking. She says, “I love it because it gives me a chance to unplug for a significant period of time, it lets me listen and exist in the natural world, and of course the chance to find breathtaking views.” Natalie enjoyed hiking Old Rag in the Shenandoah National Park in 2020 on her birthday. Monhegan Island in Maine was another memorable hike, and she hiked often when living in Hyde Park, NY where she went to culinary school.
One of Natalie’s favorite quotes is, “The pleasure we derive from journeys is perhaps dependent more on the mindset with which we travel than on the destination we travel to” by Alain de Botton.
