Our monthly bird walk at Bles Park started off with a bang on May 15.  At the start of the walk, we were able to hear a Virginia Rail, which was a life bird for many on the walk!  Unfortunately, the spot where this uncommon bird is hanging out is scheduled to be destroyed by the changes approved by the Board of Supervisors for the Park.  A photogenic Northern Parula was the next highlight of our walk.  Later a Magnolia Warbler provided good looks to most of the walk participants.  Several other warblers were heard including Black-throated Blue Warbler, American Redstart, Prairie Warbler and Blackpoll Warbler, but few were seen.  Oddly, a Wild Turkey decided to walk along the shore of the Potomac River almost in sync with our walk. It was a real treat for the 17 birdwatchers led by Allison Gallo and Bryan Henson.
