Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) is celebrating our 30th Anniversary in 2025! That’s three decades of accomplishing one mission: to PROTECT, PRESERVE, and RESTORE wildlife habitat. Thanks to our thousands of members, supporters, and volunteers over the last 30 years, we’ve accomplished some amazing things, and 2025 is shaping up to be our most impactful year ever. Below are just a few examples of what Loudoun Wildlife supporters have made possible this year alone. When you support Loudoun Wildlife, you make a real and lasting difference, not just for today, but for future generations to come.
One great way to support LWC is to become a member, and we’ve launched our “300 for 30” campaign to inspire the addition of 300 new or renewed members to LWC by the end of the year in honor of our 30th anniversary. You can help us get there by:
- Becoming a new member
- Renewing a lapsed membership
- Gifting a membership to a friend or family member
LWC members receive a variety of benefits, including discounts at local businesses, early access to event and program information, our Habitat Herald Newsletter mailed to your door, and more! Learn more and join here or by clicking the button below. (Membership benefits start a donation of $35.)
Here are just a few examples of what our members and supporters have helped us accomplish in 2025!
Between August 2024 and August 2025, our Peterson Young Naturalist Program inspired 164 teachers to engage 9,400 students with the benefits of outdoor learning.
Our Stream Monitoring Program is set to conduct a record 50 biological stream surveys this year to track the health of our local streams.
Our JK Black Oak Wildlife Sanctuary now supports over 1,000 species, including the confirmed presence of the endangered Northern Long-eared Bat.
Our Bluebird Program is the largest in the state, monitoring 63 trails and 753 nest boxes. The program has fledged more than 44,000 birds, including 22,500 bluebirds.
We’ll deliver nearly 180 free educational programs to more than 5,000 attendees this year, covering a wide range of environmental and conservation topics.
Five of the bills we supported this year were codified into law at the Virginia General Assembly, protecting clean water, endangered species, wetlands, and more.
Restoration at JK Black Oak contributed to a 33 percent increase in butterfly species and nearly triple the butterfly population on the property this year.
Our Salt Watch Monitoring program now contributes more than 15 percent of the national data submitted to the Izaak Walton League of America.
