Alphabet Sampler Quilt Raffle: April 1-16
Last year’s quilt raffle at the spring Native Plant Sale was a huge hit. This year you have another chance at winning a beautiful quilt made by Loudoun Wildlife Volunteer Lynn Lothman. This Alphabet Sampler quilt measures 52″ wide by 66″ long and is a traditional sampler highlighting flora and fauna. The piecing is done with Indonesian batik and machine embroidered on linen. The quilt can be machine washed and dried. You can see it on display at the Native Plant Sale on April 16.
Raffle tickets will go on sale April 1. Tickets can be purchased online (link will become available April 1) or at the Native Plant Sale from LWC’s Wild Shop. The raffle ends at 1:00pm on April 10. The drawing for the winner will occur at 1:30 pm and will be live streamed via Facebook. You do not need to be present to win.
I’ve been quilting for 20 years but making things and expressing myself through thread and textile since I was a small child. It never surprised my mother to find me cutting up my favorite shirt and stitching it into something else that I gifted to others! Embroidery and stitching on cloth was my voice in a time when little girls voices were often silenced. My favorite past time now at an older age is to create quilts for grandchildren, family and friends, people in need, and to highlight my love, understanding, and respect of the natural world. My greatest joy is that my creation brings joy to others.
