On April 19, 45 people attended the Clean Drinking Water for Lucketts meeting at the Lucketts Community Center. This meeting, which was part of Loudoun Wildlife’s Securing Clean Drinking Water for Lucketts project, informed local residents about the biological and bacterial testing being conducted along Clark’s Run and a tributary of the Limestone Branch, and how this could affect the local drinking water.

The meeting also included presentations about the basics of E. coli by Kevin Embrey from the Loudoun County Department of Health; Karst Topography and Drinking Water Quality by Professional Geologist Eric Deaver; the Virginia Household Water Quality Program by Stuart Vermaak from Virginia Cooperative Extension Loudoun; and Well and Septic Maintenance by Jay Frankenfield from Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation District.

Presentations from the meeting, along with a variety of resources on well and septic maintenance, well water testing, and Loudoun Soil and Water’s Pump Out Rebate program can be found here.

Additionally, data from both benthic macroinvertebrate surveys and year-long E. coli sampling can be found here. E. coli data will be updated every two weeks and benthic data will be updated in the spring and fall.
