4. South Fork Catoctin Creek
Site Description: The South Fork of the Catoctin Creek is a tributary of the main Catoctin Creek, which flows into the Potomac. This site is located near the Phillips Farm Interpretive Hiking Trail in the village of Waterford.
Certified Lead Monitor: Jason Kahn started conducting benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring at this site in the fall of 2018. This site was monitored by others for over a decade prior.

Ecological condition rating scores resulting from benthic macroinvertebrate surveys at the South Fork Catoctin Creek site starting in Spring 2016. The site has received a mix of acceptable, indeterminate and unacceptable ratings. These surveys cannot detect bacterial pollution.
